I went to see Wall-E last night at the local cinema and I was very much impressed by it. Everything from the characters to the set pieces were superbly rendered and "performed".

The story was quite ingenious (even if most Pixar stuff is a little schmaltzy in the love/friendship department). Absolutely loved the feature before the movie featuring the magician and the rabbit. Oh, I had tears in my eyes!

I have only two criticisms of Wall*e

1: It lulled in the middle. I started falling asleep for a few minutes.

2: The short was better than the feature. Significantly better. Wall*e by comparison wasn't great at all, and it was pretty damn amazing.

I really liked the movie. I would say 'loved' but it (ironically) happens to come too close to things that I do love - enchantment with the world and a devoted interest to that enchantment - for me to bandy about a word describing such a powerful emotion in regard to 98 minutes of sound and color. But really, it was a very satisfying movie, and I was very happy to have seen it.
